One marine. Endless demons. The series that taught the world what a first-person shooter could be.

About Doom

In December 1993, id Software dropped a lone space marine onto the moons of Mars and opened the gates of Hell around him. Doom’s speed, its labyrinths and its open door to fan-made levels and network deathmatch turned it into a phenomenon, and the blueprint for the first-person shooter.

The series has worn many faces since: the slow-burning horror of Doom 3, phone-sized spin-offs like Doom RPG and Mighty Doom, and the brutal, heavy-metal revival that began with Doom (2016) and roared on through Doom Eternal and the medieval Doom: The Dark Ages. The constant is the shotgun, and what you do with it.
