Bloodstained is a gothic horror action game series from Koji Igarashi, the producer long associated with Castlevania. It began with Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, a side-scrolling action game funded through one of the most successful video game crowdfunding campaigns ever held, and is known for reviving the exploratory, ability-gated style of play its creator helped define.

The series follows Miriam, a young woman whose body is slowly being crystallized by a demonic curse. She hunts through a sprawling castle, absorbing the powers of the monsters she destroys and turning their shards against them, while a companion spirit and a cast of uneasy allies watch over her descent. Sequels and spin-offs have since widened the tale.
