Blasphemous comes from The Game Kitchen in Seville, and it wears its roots openly: the processions, relics and agonised saints of Andalusian religious art, twisted into a land where every prayer is answered with suffering. You are the Penitent One, last survivor of a massacre, carrying a sword born of guilt.

The first game (2019) is a punishing Metroidvania with gory executions and bosses lifted from a fever dream; Blasphemous 2 (2023) brings the Penitent One back with new weapons and a new city to bleed in.
