Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers

Four new fighters step into the World Warrior tournament — the arcade update that rebuilt Street Fighter II from the ground up and brought the series to a new generation of consoles.

About

Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers is a fighting game developed and published by Capcom, released in arcades on September 10, 1993. Built on new hardware, it revisited the World Warrior tournament with a redrawn, more animated cast and four newcomers to the roster, giving the long-running series a refreshed look and feel.

Capcom brought the game to the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and later to home computers including the Sharp X68000, FM Towns, Commodore Amiga and MS-DOS. It is remembered as the point where Street Fighter II was overhauled rather than merely tweaked, and as the bridge between the original phenomenon and the later iterations of the series.
