About
Street Fighter Alpha is a fighting game developed and published by Capcom, released in arcades in 1995. Set before the events of Street Fighter II, it reimagines the series’ fighters in their younger days, adding new combatants alongside them, and is remembered as the start of the Alpha trilogy and for its hand-drawn animation and dramatic three-tier super combo meter.
Home versions followed on the PlayStation, Sega Saturn, Microsoft Windows and Game Boy Color, with later ports and re-releases bringing it to further platforms. Sequels and updates expanded the roster and refined the system, but the first Alpha remains the one that set the tone for the whole line.
