A lone bounty hunter descends to a hostile world in this 2017 remake, rebuilding a classic Metroid adventure for the Nintendo 3DS.

About

Metroid: Samus Returns is a Metroidvania game developed by MercurySteam and Nintendo EPD and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS on September 15, 2017. A reimagining of the bounty hunter Samus Aran’s early mission on the planet SR388, it rebuilds a classic adventure of exploration, upgrades and pursuit through labyrinthine caverns.

It is notable as the first entirely new Metroid game in years and the first mainline entry not made in-house at Nintendo’s own studios, with MercurySteam handling development alongside Nintendo EPD. Its arrival helped mark a return for the series.
