Metroid Prime Remastered

Return to Tallon IV. Retro Studios rebuilds its 2002 classic for the Nintendo Switch, and Samus Aran has never looked this cold, this alone, or this sharp.

About

Metroid Prime Remastered is an action-adventure game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch, released on February 8, 2023. It is a rebuilt version of the 2002 GameCube game that first carried the Metroid series into three dimensions, and it marks the series’ return to its earliest ground: a lone bounty hunter, an abandoned world, and a thing buried in the ruins that should have stayed buried.

Samus Aran lands on Tallon IV to hunt the remains of a pirate operation, and finds the planet already dying from something that fell from the sky. Exploration is first-person and slow-burning, the kind that rewards reading the walls and remembering the doors you could not open. The remaster is noted for its overhauled visuals, modernized controls, and the care with which it preserves the original’s isolation.
