Castlevania: Bloodlines

Konami's 1994 Castlevania for the Sega Genesis, where two hunters carry the legendary whip across a blood-soaked Europe to end a vampire count's resurrection.

About

Castlevania: Bloodlines is a platformer developed and published by Konami, released for the Sega Genesis on March 17, 1994. It is a main-line entry in the Castlevania series, and the only one made for Sega’s 16-bit console. Two hunters take up the Belmont legacy: John Morris, who wields the Vampire Killer whip, and Eric Lecarde, armed with the Alucard Spear. Their journey leads across Europe and into Castle Dracula, in pursuit of a dark plan to revive the count.

The game is remembered for its branching paths, its large and grimly ornate stages, and the way its two heroes play differently, each with a distinct weapon and set of abilities. It also drew notice for the blood and gore that Konami allowed onto the Genesis where other versions of the series were toned down.
