Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth

M2 and Konami revive Castlevania's Game Boy origins as a WiiWare-only remake, released in 2009, in which Christopher Belmont once again takes up the whip against Dracula's castle.

About

Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth is a platformer developed by M2 and published by Konami, released on October 27, 2009 as a WiiWare exclusive. It is a reimagining of the Game Boy title Castlevania: The Adventure, rebuilt in the style of the series’ 16-bit era, with the Belmont whip, sub-weapons and candle-lit corridors of the classic formula restored at a retro pitch.

The game is the third of the ReBirth line, a run of downloadable revivals produced by M2 for Konami’s back catalogue. Owners of the original handheld game will find familiar ground — Dracula’s castle, its traps and its beasts — but the stages and the challenge belong to this version alone. It is remembered by the Castlevania faithful as a compact, deliberate reminder of the series’ roots, and as one of the later glories of the Wii’s downloadable shopfront.
