About

The bionic arm whirs, the cables bite into concrete, and another tower falls. Capcom brought its Bionic Commando series back in 2009 with this action game for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows, developed by Grin and set years after the events of the original. You swing through a shattered cityscape on a grappling arm, clearing the rubble of a war that already happened.

It is remembered less for the questions it asked than for how it moved: a soldier flinging himself across a broken skyline, momentum and timing doing the work that a jump button never could. The reboot drew attention for its bleak tone and for a twist that divided the people who played it. Grin, the studio behind it, did not last long after.
