Metroid Prime: Federation Force

A four-player co-op shooter set in the Metroid galaxy, where Federation Marines suit up to fight on the far side of the stars.

About

The Galactic Federation has its own soldiers now, and they need you. Metroid Prime: Federation Force is a first-person shooter for the Nintendo 3DS, developed by Next Level Games and published by Nintendo on August 19, 2016. Far from Samus Aran’s solitary hunts, this mission is built for up to four players, who take the boots of Federation marines and fight their way through hostile worlds together, trading the lone-bounty-hunter melancholy for the noise and tension of a squad under fire.

Its reveal arrived to a colder welcome than anything the series had faced before, and it remains the Metroid game fans argue about loudest — a spin-off that stepped away from the lone hunter and paid for it. Yet behind the argument sits a tight, cooperative shooter with its own rhythm, and a small soccer-like diversion that throws the armor aside entirely.
