A bounty hunter descends into a bottled ship, her past and her old commander waiting in the dark. Metroid: Other M was made by Team Ninja with Nintendo SPD, and it lives on the Wii.

About

Metroid: Other M is an action-adventure game in the Metroid series, released for the Wii on August 31, 2010. It was developed by Team Ninja in collaboration with Nintendo SPD and published by Nintendo, and it followed a long line of Metroids by trading the series’ solitary wandering for a story-heavy, cinematic telling of an old mission and an old debt.

The game is remembered for its split control scheme, which let players shift the Wii Remote between a side-on view and a pointer-based search mode, and for its divisive portrait of Samus Aran: a heroine given a voice, a backstory, and a fear she had spent years outrunning. Whatever else it became, it is the Metroid game that opened the hunter up, and let the dark in.
