Hyrule Warriors

A hack-and-slash crossover that drops The Legend of Zelda's heroes into the massed-battle combat of Dynasty Warriors — Hyrule, but with a thousand enemies between you and the next keep.

About

Hyrule Warriors is an action game in which the world of The Legend of Zelda is recast as a battlefield of crowds. Developed by Omega Force and Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo and Nintendo, it released for the Wii U in 2014, later reaching the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch. Its shape comes from the Dynasty Warriors tradition: a chosen warrior wades through ranks of foes, seizes keeps, and turns the tide of a sprawling map.

It is best known for the collision itself — Zelda’s swords, boomerangs and songs of storms placed against the endless armies of a musou game. Beloved heroes and villains alike are made playable, each carrying the weapons and abilities of their own legend. A series followed, and the formula has since been applied to other Nintendo worlds.
